The Department of Education- SDO Cagayan conducted 2024 Local Stakeholders’ Convergence cum Recognition of Government and Community Stakeholders with the theme: “Championing the BAYANIHAN SPIRIT: Celebrating

Established Partnerships, Forging External Linkages” at Meynard’s Resort and Leisure Park, Tuguegarao City.

The activity aims to conduct a year-round performance assessment of implemented programs

and projects and recognition to partners’ topmost

involvement and participation toward delivery of quality basic education and services the learners.

A certificate of appreciation was awarded to the Municipal Government of Santo Niño, Cagayan through the esteemed leadership of Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan and Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan in grateful acknowledgment to the various forms of educational support they extended to the Schools Division Office of Cagayan.

The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 02 conducted an Information Campaign on Priority Animal Diseases in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Engr. Rosalie S. Tomaneng.

The activity aims to increase awareness on priority animal diseases and its control and prevention.

Target participants for the said activity are the Sangguniang Barangay Members (Committee on Agriculture Chairman) and Animal Raisers from the municipality.

The Municipal Development Council (MDC) chaired by Municipal Mayor Vicente G. Pagurayan convened at the Liga Office, Municipal Gymnasium. The meeting was facilitated by the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Engr. Dennis I. Piñera and it was attended by Hon. Edgar Tulali (SB Member), Hon. Erwin Oli (Ex-Officio Member/ LNB President), Punong Barangays, CSO, PNP and DILG Representatives and other members of the council.

MPDC Piñera tackled various programs and projects as stipulated in the Comprehensive Development Plan. He also discussed the supplemental budget for the adoption and approval of the council. Throughout the discussion, Barangay Officials recommended new projects to be carried out in their own community, such as improvement of the Small Water Impounding Projects (SWIPs), Water System Distribution and Concreting of Farm-to-Market Roads (FMRs) which was duly noted by the secretariat for appropriate action.

The meeting was concluded with a positive and reinforcing commitment to ensure economic growth or to meet social development goals.

The Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board (MCCB) chaired by Municipal Mayor Hon. Vincent G. Pagurayan held its second convening in preparation for the 2024 Census Population and Community Based-Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS) at Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall last May 14, 2024 (Tuesday).

This meeting initiated by CBMS Focal Person and Board Secretariat Engr. Dennis I. Piñera was attended by the members of the MCCB, National Agencies, CSOs, Barangay Officials and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) personnel led by MCCB Co-Chair Cristeta Retoma.

Co-Chair Retoma highlighted the conduct of the combined conduct of 2024 POPCEN-CBMS starting this July 2024.

The PSA also conducted the orientation in accomplishing the Barangay Profile Questionnaires (BPQ) as part of the preparation for this endeavour.

With this, the MCCB shall be restructured as Municipal Coordinating Board for POPCEN-CBMS adding the Population Officer and Municipal Assessor as new members of the board.

This collaborative approach will create a strong framework for the utilization of updated household data through an objective targeting of beneficiaries for poverty alleviation and continued development in the municipality.

The project aims to mitigate the impact of El Niño through cash-for-training and cash-for-work. The target beficiaries include families of farmers, fosherfolks, indigenous peoples (IPs), and other climate and disaster-vulnerable families identified as poor or upon assessment and validation of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

Adherence to Division Memorandum No.153, s. 2024 Re: Conduct of SIMULTANEOUS KINDERGARTEN LEARNERS’ INTEREST DAY and in support to Project SEEDLINGS – Strengthening Early Education through Developmentally appropriate Literacy & numeracy activities in an Inclusive, Nurturing, Growth mindset with Sensory integration in Sto. Nino District and consistent with the MATATAG Agenda of the department on Early Childhood Care & Development Program responsive to nurture the diverse array of intelligence found in every learner through showcasing of skills and talents, the DepEd- Santo Niño District in cooperation with the Municipal Government Unit of Santo Niño conducted the District Kindergarten Learner’s Interest Day on May 3, 2024 at Leandro Pagurayan Memorial Gymnasium.

Simultaneous showcasing of kindergarten skills and talents is a unique way of educational approach that provides optimum participation and opportunities to develop the seven domains in Kindergarten.

This activity provides meaningful experiences that challenge and encourage young learners to gain and enjoy their journey in preparation towards the transition to the next level of their educational journey.

Various contested activities were participated such as Vocal Solo, Vocal Duet, Zumba, Folkdance, Reading, Short Stories (English and Filipino)Writing and Math Saya.
