The National Government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office awarded a cash incentive amounting to P100,000.00 to a centenarian at barangay Lattac, Sto. Niño, Cagayan.

Also, the Municipal Government of Santo Niño, through Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan and SB Members present, awarded the check amounting to twenty- five thousand pesos (P25,000.00). This is one of the initiatives of the LGU in recognizing our dear senior citizens.

The said centenarian is Lola Luisa Calano Batugal who is now one hundred (100) years old and the third (3rd) centenarian who was given such incentive this year.

The said awarding was held during her birthday celebration and it was started with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Alex Caurel.

This is pursuant to the provisions of RA 10868 otherwise known as the Centenarian Act of 2016 where the National Government are mandated to award cash incentive amounting to P100,000 to Filipino citizens who have reached the age of 100 years old.

The Municipal Social Welfare & Development Office, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Sto. Niño Station and Philippine National Police – Sto. Niño Police Station, conducted an Orientation of Day Care Service Program cum Fire & Earthquake Drill at Barangays Lipatan and Balanni on August 22, 2024.

The purpose of this activity is to orient the parents of the learners and at the same time to educate them with the necessary precautions and response procedures in the event of an emergency such as fire or earthquake. #ParaTiIliTiStoNiño

The Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. AV Roxas Pagurayan, together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members, attended the Monthly Meeting of Barangay Secretaries at Niug Sur, Sto. Niño, Cagayan.

He discussed the different programs of the Local Government Unit for implementation. He also urged the Barangay Secretaries to cooperate and prepare for the upcoming SGLG National Validation.

Naganap kanina ang Mobile Session ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan dito sa bayan ng Santo Niño, Cagayan sa pangunguna ng Presiding Officer na si Vice Governor Melvin K. Vargas, Jr.

Bago ang nasabing session, nakilahok din si Vice Governor Vargas sa Flag Raising Ceremony na kung saan binigyan-diin nya na ang pagkakaisa ng bawat isa ang makapagbibigay ng kaunlaran at progreso sa isang bayan. Namigay din sya ng mga papremyo sa mga empleyado. Pinangunahan din nya ang pagsisimula ng “Lingap Kaibigan, Angat Cagayan Caravan” na kung saan magsasagawa sila ng Medical, Dental at Optical Services para sa ating mga kababayan.

Taos-puso namang tinanggap at binati ni Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan ang mga opisyales ng Provincial Government sa pangunguna ni Vice Governor Vargas. Lubos din ang kanyang pasasamalat sa mga magagandang programa at aktibidades ng Office of the Vice Governor at Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

THE VICE GOVERNOR JOINED THE MONDAY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

The Office of the Vice Governor and the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Melvin “Boy” Vargas Jr. conducted the “Lingap Kaibigan, Angat Cagayan Caravan” on August 19, 2024 at the Leandro Pagurayan Memorial Gymnasium. The Caravan provided free medical, dental and optical services along with assistance services from various goverment agencies such as SSS, DTI, PAG-IBIG, D.A. – CVRC, PHILHEALTH, and TESDA.

Vice Governor Vargas emphasized in his speech that the caravan aims to bring the services closer to the people. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Cagayano has access to the support and services they need.

Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to the Vice Governor and his team for their initiative, emphasizing the importance of such programs in supporting the welfare of the community. He highlighted how the caravan directly addresses the needs of the residents, particularly in terms of health and access to essential services. The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist distributed Indemnity Claim Checks to corn farmers affected by drought caused by long dry spell and also damage caused by Fall Army Worm (FAW) infestations.

Farmers who were affected received their indemnity checks last August 15 and August 16, 2024. Our beloved Vice Mayor, Hon. AV Roxas Pagurayan attended the ceremonial distribution.

The farmer beneficiaries were very grateful that in times of calamities like these, the Local Government of Sto. Nino through the leadership of our beloved Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan, our Vice Mayor and SB members are very supportive.

Municipal Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan attended the General PTA Meeting and Orientation today, August 16, 2024, at Lubo National High School. Additionally, he officiated the induction of the newly elected officers from the different student organizations of the said school.

He emphasized in his speech that students should be grateful for the sacrifices of their parents and should reciprocate this by studying hard to achieve their goals. He encouraged them to remain focused on their goals, reminding them that their dedication to education is not only a way to honor their parents but also a key to unlocking future opportunities.

The activity ended with the turnover of the books which is a part of the “Tara Na at Magbasa” program of Rang-Ay Kabataan ti Sto. Niño initiated by their Founding Officer Hon. Andrew Vincent Pagurayan.
