SANTO NIÑO, CAGAYAN – Mahigit 700 pamilya na lubhang naapektuhan ng pananalasa ng Bagyong Kristine noong Oktubre 2024 ang nakatanggap ng tulong pinansyal mula sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa ilalim ng Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) Program.

Pinangunahan ng MSWDO ang payout na ginanap upang matulungan ang mga pamilyang nawalan ng kabuhayan at tahanan matapos ang pinsala ng Bagyong “Kristine”.

Dumalo rin sa aktibidad si Vice Mayor AV Roxas Pagurayan na nagpaabot ng kanyang pasasalamat sa ahensya sa mabilis na pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng mga nasalanta.

Ang ECT Program ay isang inisyatiba na naglalayong tulungan ang mga pamilya sa mga lugar na idineklarang nasa ilalim ng state of calamity sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng agarang tulong pinansyal. Layunin nitong mapunan ang agwat sa pagitan ng agarang disaster relief at maagang pagbangon ng mga apektadong komunidad.

This afternoon, the empowered women of our Local Government Unit came together to celebrate Women’s Month with an energetic Zumba session, held to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of women in our community.

Organized by the Sto. Niño Police Station in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, the event was a vibrant display of unity and empowerment. Participants included women from the LGU , Sto. Niño Fire Station and Sto. Niño Police Station.

Through dance and camaraderie, the event highlighted the strength and resilience of women across our society.

The Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines (FSCAP) – Santo Niño Chapter actively participated in the FSCAP Region 02 General Assembly held in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

A key highlight of the assembly was the session on the implementation of Republic Act 7876, which establishes senior citizens’ centers across the country to provide vital services for the elderly. Additionally, the election of the FSCAP Region 02 Board of Directors was conducted, ensuring strong leadership for the federation’s regional initiatives.

The participation was made possible through the assistance of Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan and Vice Mayor AV Pagurayan, who provided transportation for the participants.

Sto. Niño, Cagayan – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) led the conduct of the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) in Barangay Virginia, Sto. Niño, Cagayan, on March 13, 2025, reinforcing disaster preparedness among residents and local responders.

Participants, including barangay officials, students, and community members, practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique as part of the earthquake drill. The activity aimed to enhance readiness and ensure a coordinated response in the event of a major earthquake.

In addition to the drill, several safety and emergency response trainings were conducted:

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) provided first aid training, equipping participants with basic life-saving skills.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) facilitated a fire safety awareness session, emphasizing fire prevention and emergency response.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) held a crime prevention seminar, educating the community on safety measures and law enforcement coordination.

The NSED is a nationwide initiative conducted quarterly by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to instill disaster preparedness and response capabilities across all sectors.

The Local Government Unit of Santo Niño participated in the DSWD 74th Anniversary cum Panagyaman Awards Rites at Hotel Carmelita, Tuguegarao City.

Sangguniang Bayan Member Elmer Tejada, representing the Municipal Mayor, personally received the Gawad ng Serbisyong Matapat in recognition of the LGU’s commitment to quality service by successfully completing the Service Delivery Capacity Assessment (SDCA) from Baseline Assessment to Reassessment.

Additionally, the Municipal Government of Santo Niño was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation for its unwavering support and significant contributions to the implementation of DSWD programs and services for Calendar Year 2024.
