Under the dynamic leadership of Municipal Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan, the Local Youth Development Office, headed by LYDO Gee Liban, proudly hosted a transformative “Youth Development and Parent Effectiveness Session” at the Leandro Pagurayan Memorial Gymnasium on February 27, 2025. This significant event brought together students, parents, and distinguished partners from Cagayan State University to foster an environment of learning, communication, and growth.
The program commenced with an enlightening welcome address by Vice Mayor AV Pagurayan, who emphasized the importance of adapting traditional values to the realities of today’s world. He stated, “Napintas dagiti topics tayu ita nga malem, pagpanpanunutan ken sigurado nak nga pakaadawan tayu iti mabalin nga usaren tayu nga ideologies kadagituy annak tayu.” His speech called for embracing change while instilling discipline, respect, and fear of God, underscoring the vital role of communication, attention, and love in family dynamics.
Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan delivered an inspiring message, urging participants to sustain their commitment to youth development. His call to action set the tone for a day dedicated to bridging generational differences through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
The session featured various interactive discussions and workshops tailored to empower both teens and parents. Key topics included “Bridging the Gap: Empowering Teens and Parents for Healthy Conversations on Reproductive Health and Teenage Pregnancy,” “Creating Safer Spaces: Anti-Bullying, Safe Spaces, and Child Protection,” and “Relax, Recharge, Reconnect: Mental Wellness Session for Parents and Children.” These sessions aimed to equip participants with essential tools and ideologies to navigate the complexities of modern adolescence.
