The Harvest Field Day Techno Demo cum Livelihood Project of Tilapia Culture in Ponds has been undertaken this morning by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist headed by Engr. Rosalie S. Tomaneng in coordination with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 2 and Provincial Offices headed by Ms. Jennifer T. Tattao. The cooperator of the Project is Mr. Danilo Calano of Centro Norte, Sto. Nino, Cagayan.

The Field Day was attended by our beloved Municipal Mayor, Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan, SB for Agriculture, Hon. Erwin Oli, Barangay Captain Orlando D. Simeon, Senior Coop Development Specialist Robert D. Simeon, BFAR Employees, Municipal Agriculture Employees, farmers and members of Namuccayan Farmers Association.

The Project aimed to showcase tilapia farming as an alternative livelihood and test of its feasibility. It involved stocking of a 500 sqm. Pond with 2,500 tilapia fingerlings. After 4 months, 531 kiligrams were harvested, generating an Rate of Investment (ROI) of 47.95% and a Net Income of Php 27,261.00.

During the speech of our Honorable Mayor, he thanked the BFAR Family for their continued support for the development of the Fishery Sector and livelihood of the farmers of the municipality. He also said that projects like this, is a very good alternative source of income for the farmers family. He is also hopeful that BFAR will continuously extend their technical support and expertise to other interested Farmers most especially to the “Project LAWA at BINHI” recipients.

Niño presents the BEST 35 intellectually elite Senior High School (SHS) graduates for the Student Top Achievers’ Rewards System (STARS), a flagship education assistance program under the leadership of our Honorable Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan and Honorable Vice Mayor Andrew Vincent AV Roxas Pagurayan. The students who took the qualifying examination but are not on this list, on the other hand, are all qualified for the Financial Assistance for College Education (FACE) program.

Nakatanggap ng tulong pinansyal ang ilang pamilyang biktima ng sunog mula sa Barangays Balanni at Abariungan Uneg, Bayan ng Sto. Niño mula sa National Housing Authority (NHA) sa pamamagitan ng Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

Bahagi ito ng Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) ng ahensya na layuning makatulong sa pagbangon ng mga pamilyang nasalanta ng mga kalamidad tulad ng bagyo, sunog, lindol at pagbaha.

Ito ay resulta ng pakikipagpulong ng ating mga opisyales na pinangunahan ng ating butihing Alkalde Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan sa mga opisyales ng NHA upang mabigyan ng karampatang tulong ang mga pamilyang nasunugan sa ating bayan.

Lubos ang pasasalamat ng mga pamilyang natulungan at Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Sto. Niño sa pangunguna ng ating Alkalde, Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan at Bise Mayor Andrew Vincent AV Roxas Pagurayan.

The Municipal Government of Sto. Niño through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office once again implements the “BEST BARANGAY/SCHOOL ESWM IMPLEMENTER CY 2024”, an Incentive and Award Program stipulated in the Solid Waste Management Plan of the municipality. This annual activity aims to ensure and monitor the effectiveness of the implementation and observance of RA 9003, otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and other local programs relevant to environmental protection in the municipality’s respective barangays and schools.

Barangays were categorized into three (3):

1) Rural I (250 HHs and less)

2) Rural II (>250 HHs)

3) Urban (Centro Sur & Centro Norte)

Schools were also categorized into four (4):

1) Elementary Schools (MG/Small)

2) Elementary Schools (Medium/Large)

3) Integrated Schools

4) National High Schools

The aforesaid undertaking shall commence by September 10, 2024 (Tuesday). The schedule of the first group to be evaluated on the first week shall be posted on September 6, 2024 (Friday).

The Local Government Unit of Sto. Niño is vying for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award this 2024!

The SGLG is the most prestigious award from the National Government that recognizes the efforts of municipalities to uphold transparency and accountability and emphasize honest and efficient performance of the LGU using the parameters of the 10 Governance Areas. The SGLG criteria are anchored on a performance management system that focus on 1.) LGU’s capacity to deliver basic services, 2.) Governance Principles on Transparency and Accountability, 3.) Performance on Accomplishment of Plans, Fund Utilization and Frontline Service Delivery.

The Local Government Unit headed by Municipal Mayor Atty. Vicente G. Pagurayan & Vice Mayor Hon. AV Roxas Pagurayan together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members, Department Heads, LGU Employees, Barangay Officials, and other Partner National Government Agencies, welcomed the SGLG National Validation Team headed by LGOO VII Fortunato S. Austria, assisted by LGOO VII Ricardo CP Torrado, LGOO VI Jasmin T. Balisi, LGOO V Alyza Layson and LGOO II Keith Krystel T. Gordo, for all your positive feedback.
